How we verify
California Pest Check is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.
Sources
- DCA public license data: Structural Pest Control Board file — The Department of Consumer Affairs' monthly public license file for the SPCB: registration type, number, branches, name, address, county, original issue date and status.
- DCA License Search (Structural Pest Control Board) — The state's own lookup for companies and licensees. Use it before you sign.
- SPCB Wood Destroying Organism property search — Shows whether a termite inspection was filed for a California address in the last two years.
- Structural Pest Control Act (Bus. & Prof. Code 8500 et seq.) — Branches, registration, bonds and insurance, inspection reports, pesticide notices and complaints.
The California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) publishes each board's public license file once a month. Every week we look up the current Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) file in DCA's public data folder and download it; a new month's file reaches the site within a week.
We list every company registration (the board's "principal registration") and every branch office registration with status Active and a California address. Operators, field representatives and applicators are individual licensees and are not listed. The branches shown (fumigation, general pest, termite) are the specialty the board records for that office.
Branch offices are linked to the company with the same registered name, and "registered offices under this name" counts them; a company that registers offices under different names is not linked. Names, addresses, counties and original issue dates are shown as the board publishes them; older records carry only a year. Order within a city: longest-registered first, then alphabetical.
The board's public file has no phone numbers, complaints or disciplinary history. We never mark a company as unregistered: one missing here may have registered after the last monthly file or under another name. Check the DCA License Search for any company.
Featured companies appear in a separate, labelled box and never change the order of the list.
What a badge means
SPCB-registered: the office's company or branch office registration appears in the Structural Pest Control Board's public license file with status Active. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.
